Caerleon’s Young People
Schools
Congratulations to Lodge Infants School which has been awarded the prestigious Eco Green Flag for their commitment to improving the environment. It is an exceptional achievement that only one other school in Newport has also gained. Many congratulations also the Caerleon Endowed Junior School which achieved top marks and five grade ones in their most recent Estyn Report. These are tremendous successes and show the consistent hard work of pupils, staff and Governors.

Caerleon 1st Scouts
The scout’s hut refurbishment continues and hopefully will be completed later this year. Thanks to every one for their hard work and also to those who have given essential financial and technical support.

Caerleon Air Training Corps

The ATC has been a popular youth group in Caerleon for many years, providing a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Young people are welcomed at their premises in Coldbath Road at 7pm every Tuesday and Thursday evening. If you are interested please contact me on 01633 221922.

Caerleon Golf Course
Caerleon golf course is a first class municipal facility for everybody in the community to enjoy and is also an excellent and enjoyable way to enjoy the countryside and get fit. The course is due to be extended this year and will include women and youth’s facilities. The starting date for the works is to be decided in the near future.

St Cadoc’s Church
St Cadoc’s held its annual youth service on Sunday 11th February. This popular service was led by Canon Edwards and well attended by parishioners and young people including local scouts.

Highways
High Street

Serious problems regarding drainage of surface water in High Street is to be addressed by the Local Authority. Work will commence in April 2007 and an exhibition has been organised by your local councillors to provide information and advice about the works to be undertaken. The exhibition will be held in Caerleon Town Hall on Wednesday March 7th, 10 am- 1pm &
2- 4.30pm and also on Tuesday 13th March 6- 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome.

Caerleon in Bloom
Preparation by CIB’s volunteers is underway for this year’s displays of colour which will once again enhance our environment. The re-introduction of the competition will hopefully commence during July 2007. Information will be posted on local public notice boards.
