Chapman Close development

Annington Property Ltd are responsible for the disposal of empty properties and vacant land released by the MOD from their Married Quarters Estate. They have sold the present houses in Chapman Close and propose to erect a mixture of 2 and 3 bedroom houses aimed at those wishing to get a foothold on the property ladder. Whilst it is possible to fit more than eight units on this site the developer feels the low density is in keeping with existing development immediately surrounding the site. There are existing dwellings to the East and West of the site and land to the North and East has been developed by Westbury Homes. The proposed development site is therefore a void within a residential area.
The developer has chosen to retain the current ground levels and the mature hedge which borders Edison Ridge. The units, which are terraced into a five and a three house block, are designed to maximise privacy by ensuring that they have at least 25 metres between them. Where this is closer, one unit has been rotated 90 degrees and has a blank gable wall with a single small window opening.
If you wish to see the plans, these are on deposit at the Planning Department, Civic Centre, Newport under reference number 05/1649/F. Your Councillors are also available if you wish to talk to them about the development.
