Darwin Drive Neighbourhood Watch

Residents in Darwin Drive and the surrounding streets have set up a Neighbourhood Watch.

Mo Docking of Darwin Drive was the catalyst for the venture and she was amazed at how many people shared her views. Many residents have lived in the area since it was built and their aims are to return the area to the friendly and pleasant neighbourhood that they remember.

Her Neighbour Karen Seager took on the role of Secretary and together they organised a meeting at Malpas Library. This was a very well attended meeting and was chaired by another local resident Rachel Fellows. The main issues of concern were discussed and helpful advice was given by our two Councillors Bill Langsford and David Mayer and our Police Community Support Officers, Dominique de Cet and Linda Green (PC Nigel Jones was on holdiday but sent his apologies).

Mo told the meeting " we are not prepared to let a small number of anti-social actions spoil the estate for the majority. If we work together and look after each other’s interests we will see a dramatic improvement."

Another resident came up with the slogan “Together we can make a difference”

The first group activity was a litter picking afternoon in the area on Sunday 24 August. Around 20 redients and young people along with David and BIll turned up and spent a few hours picking up a huge amount of litter, cans and bottles from the area.
