School Bus Problems in Westfield Way

Following complaints about the School Buses we asked our Chief Education Officer to ensure that residents are not inconvenienced by irresponsible coach drivers.
The Chief Education Officer responded with the following advice.
“Pupils start to leave the school at 3.10 pm. All contract coaches should be at the school 10 minutes before the end of the school day. We have already spent considerable time in discussion with the proprietors about parking difficulties in Westfield Way. Coaches used to arrive at the Westfield Site as early as 2.45 pm. It has now been agreed with the transport operators that no coaches will pull into Westfield Way before 3.00 pm. If coaches are running early, drivers will park up in a safe place before proceeding to the school (eg bus lay-bys on Malpas Road). Drivers have been complying with this instruction. We realise that traffic congestion can be problematic at this time of the day because of narrow residential roads, but as vehicles are only parked for a short time, we would request residents' understanding.”
We hope you will not continue to be inconvenienced but if you are you can either contact the Bus operators themselves - Croydon Travel 214519, Shamrock Coaches 270666 or Pupil Services on 232759, The new Rogerstone School is still on schedule for completion for a September 2006 entry, We will keep you informed on this progress.
